Why I love the white

It’s not only because of their colour, and the colour is 20% of it. The main reason I love them is for the fact that they brought me the Gospel and they’re very kind, the only time they get weird or mad is when you mess with their feelings, or something precious to them.

I’m writing not to please any one but my few moments chatting with them.

Moreover, I’ve seen quite a number here at Abuja they’re wonderful people. The first I met was from Poland, she’s married to a black we got into a tricycle together she was friendly, the second was a guy I saw along the roadside discussing with a black guy, and the third was cruising her Jeep in my street, I’ve seen more both the Chinese and many of them I just refer to them as white.

I felt this joy inside of me knowing that the black and white relationship still exists!!

Thanks for the time you spared to read this.

Trump criticized immigration from ‘s—hole’ countries: [report from theHills.com]

Its all over the news, 69223196President Trump reportedly referred to immigrants from Haiti and African countries as coming from “shithole countries” on Thursday.

Trump made the comment in an Oval Office meeting with lawmakers during a discussion of protections for immigrants from several countries, according to The Washington Post.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to multiple people briefed on the meeting.

He reportedly suggested the U.S. should bring in more immigrants from countries such as Norway.

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) were present at the meeting and were surprised by the comments, according to the Post.

“Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people,” White House spokesman Raj Shah said when asked to comment on the Post story, before outlining Trump’s requirements for an immigration deal.

“The president will only accept an immigration deal that adequately addresses the visa lottery system and chain migration — two programs that hurt our economy and allow terrorists into our country,” the spokesman said. “Like other nations that have merit-based immigration, President Trump is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation. He will always reject temporary, weak and dangerous stopgap measures that threaten the lives of hardworking Americans and undercut immigrants who seek a better life in the United States through a legal pathway.”

Trump has been quoted criticizing immigrants from these countries in the past. The New York Times reported in December he once suggested Haitian immigrants “all have AIDS,” and Nigerian immigrants would never “go back to their huts” if granted entrance to the U.S.

The White House denied those allegations at the time.

In the meeting, lawmakers reportedly floated reinstating Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for countries that have been removed from the program as part of an immigration deal.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced it would end TPS for more than 260,000 immigrants from El Salvador.

Trump campaigned on a hardline immigration stance and has tried to enforce limits through his travel ban, which has been challenged multiple times in courts.

We will bring perpetrators of Benue killings to justice – Police IG

– The inspector-general of police spoke about the killings in Benue

– He promised that the perpetrators of the killings will be brought to justice

– He explained that investigation has already started

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to apprehend and prosecute perpetrators of New Year killings in Benue.

NAIJ.com had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, January 9 ordered the I-G to move to Benue, to restore law and order and forestall the crisis from escalating.

Herdsmen on New Year day attacked and killed 50 persons in Logo and Guma local government areas of the state.

NAN reports that Idris, who made the promise during stakeholders meeting in Makurdi, assured that anyone involved in the killings would be brought to book.

The police boss said the meeting was geared toward finding lasting solution to the crisis that bedevilled some communities of the state.

He said police would not rest until the perpetrators of the killings were arrested.

He added that “I want to assure you that the police will not rest on its oars until these hoodlums are apprehended and brought to justice.

“We are conducting investigation into the killings and will take appropriate action against perpetrators of the heinous crime.

“I want to assure you that police have put in place security measures to checkmate activities of miscreants.”

Idris also promised to take appropriate action against anyone carrying arms around.

He enjoined the people to give the police actionable intelligence that would lead to further arrest of criminal elements.

The police chief, who kicked against the clamour for deployment of the military, said they could only intervene when the police was overwhelmed.

He said the force had deployed 660 personnel from some units to complement the security architecture in Benue.

He noted that the force was determined to create safe and secured environment for the people of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Monday, January 9, 2018, announced the army’s plan to deploy Special Forces Brigade to bring an end to the herdsmen crisis in states like Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa.

Buratai made the statement during the distribution of farm implements by the minister of agriculture and rural development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, at the military ranch in Giri, Abuja, The Nation reports.

Justice Department cracks down on legal marijuana with rollback of Obama policy [usatoday.com]

Long lines greeted the opening of legal marijuana retail stores in Southern California. Robert Hanashiro, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON – The Justice Department sent a shiver of uncertainty through the now-thriving legal marijuana industry Thursday by rescinding Obama administration policies not to interfere with state laws allowing people to use pot for medical and recreational uses.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions characterized the dramatic policy shift as a “return to the rule of law” in a memo outlining the change. But federal officials could not answer whether people selling or using marijuana – in certain states where it’s considered legal – would now be more at risk of prosecution.

Senior Justice officials said the previous administration’s position, mainly drafted by former Deputy Attorney General James Cole, had provided a “de-facto safe haven” for a now thriving weed industry.

“This (Sessions) memo has no de-facto safe haven in it,” said the officials, who briefed reporters under condition of anonymity because the memo had not yet been circulated to U.S. attorneys across the country.

More: California marijuana shops hope legalization expands market

Sessions has long signaled his disagreement with the previous administration’s stance on pot. But the spare, one-page document did not contain any new specific guidelines for how the policy change would be enforced. It only indicated that marijuana guidance issued by the previous administration – which did not challenge state laws as long as marijuana sales did not conflict with federal law enforcement policies –  was unnecessary.

“This memorandum is intended solely as a guide to the exercise of investigative and prosecutorial discretion,” Sessions said in the memo.

The Obama policy, which represented a major breakthrough by advocates for the decriminalization of marijuana use, did not change marijuana’s federal classification as an illegal drug. But it effectively discouraged the pursuit of non-violent marijuana users who have no links to criminal gangs or cartel operations.

The move sowed new unpredictability into an industry that has flourished largely because federal prosecutors have maintained this hands-off approach.

The lack of detail in the administration’s new policy seemed to aimed at putting the entire industry on notice that federal authorities would not be constrained by the Obama-era guidance.

Sessions’s decision should be a warning sign to institutional investors, said Kevin Sabet, director of the anti-legalization group Smart Approaches to Marijuana and a former federal drug-control expert who served in the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations.

“It signals the end of safe harbor for major pot investors,” Sabet said. “This throws up everything in the air one thought they knew about the federal government‘s position on marijuana, which up to this date was more of a ‘see no evil, hear no evil’ policy.”

The announcement comes the same week California launched recreational marijuana sales for adults. Every state that’s approved recreational pot sales – Alaska, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Colorado, Maine and Massachusetts – has done so though voter approval at the ballot box, showing strong public approval for legal pot.

Local legislators have also become legalization advocates as marijuana sales generate new tax revenues. California’s newly legal market alone could be worth as much as $5.1 billion this year, according to cannabis financial analysis firm GreenWave Advisors. And Colorado lawmakers have been pouring tens of millions worth of marijuana taxes into university scholarships, drug-treatment programs and school construction.

“This move represents a broken campaign promise by the president,” said Tom Angell of the pro-legalization group Marijuana Majority. “He clearly and repeatedly pledged that he would respect state marijuana laws if elected. With polls showing that marijuana legalization is way more popular than the president is, this will likely turn out to be a huge political disaster for the administration. Either way, it’s not going to stop even more states from modernizing their cannabis laws.”

Some Republican lawmakers were incensed by the move.

Colorado’s Republican Sen. Cory Gardner tweeted his disappointment, saying it “directly contradicts” what Sessions told him prior to being confirmed as attorney general. President Trump repeatedly said he thought states should be allowed to manage their own marijuana laws without federal interference.

“I am prepared to take all steps necessary, including holding DOJ nominees, until the attorney general lives up to the commitment he made to me prior to his confirmation,” Gardner said.

Trump “had it right, Gardner added, “this must be left up to the states.”

Cannabis analytics firm New Frontier Data downplayed the move, saying federal prosecutors had always retained the right to target the marijuana industry. Nevertheless, the small number of publicly traded marijuana stocks dropped sharply on Thursday.

“The key question is what approach the DOJ will take to enforcing the law once the memo is rescinded, and it remains to be seen whether the agency has the political support to aggressively intervene in legal states,” said John Kagia, New Frontier’s executive vice president of industry analytics.

“In the interim, this announcement will undoubtedly have an effect on publicly traded cannabis companies which have already fallen steeply since news of the announcement broke this morning,” Kagia continued. “However, for most businesses already in the industry, this news is unlikely to change the way they are operating, and we not expect cannabis business owners to flee to the hills out of fear of this announcement.”

Several recent surveys have shown that at least 60% of Americans support some form of marijuana legalization, and 29 states have approved medical use. Medical use is currently protected by Congress, although that expires later this month unless re-approved.

“Jeff Sessions’ obsession with marijuana prohibition defies logic, threatens successful state-level reforms, and flies in the face of widespread public support for legalization,” said Maria McFarland Sánchez-Moreno, executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance. “It’s now time for Congress to put the brakes on Sessions’ destructive agenda by limiting the Justice Department’s ability to undermine states’ decision-making.”

Airfare Expert: Best and worst days to fly in 2018 [usatoday.com]

First published by: Rick Seaney, FareCompare.comPublished 6:46 p.m. ET Jan. 2, 2018

Don’t be sad that the holidays are over… book a trip! According to an airline expert, January is one of the cheapest months to travel by plane. USA TODAY

If you’re feeling a little blah because the holidays are over and the dreariness of another winter is upon us, this may perk you up: January is an excellent time to fly because it’s so darn cheap, for domestic travel and Europe. Some examples of round-trip fares, all found within the past few days on FareCompare:

• Los Angeles to Denver – $53
• Chicago to Miami – $63
• Boston to Kauai, Hawaii – $482
• New York to Madrid – $382

Of course, what goes down does come up so let’s take a look at the best and worst days to fly so you can plan accordingly in the new year.

January and February

Best days to fly: Jan. 9 and beyond. This is when the very cheap, post-holiday pricing kicks in. The bargains continue throughout the month and into February.

Worst days: February 15, 16, 17. Prices rise for travel during the President’s Day holiday for weekend trips.

March and April

Best days to fly: Most weekdays.

Worst days: Weekends beginning March 10/11, continuing through April 21/22. This marks the start of the spring break travel season; airlines know most fliers who take these vacations will make it a week-long break and weekend fares rise with demand. But you can make it a cheaper spring break by flying a Tuesday-to-Saturday or Saturday-to-Wednesday itinerary.

May, June, July and August

Best days to fly: May 1 – 16. Prices will be relatively cheap for both weekdays and weekends.

Worse days: May 17 – June 22. Higher, pre-summer fares kick in with an average price hike for weekdays and weekends of 20%+ over May fares.

Worst days: June 23 to late August. Summer fares reach their peak, and pricing remains high through Aug. 13, when prices drop for weekday fares.

Fall season

Best day to fly: Aug. 27. This is when the high summer fares drop for weekends as well as weekdays, and lower fares will rule until a big jump for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving falls early in 2018, on Nov. 22. Look for cheap fares the week after the holiday and into early December, when higher Christmas and New Year’s fares kick in.

Cheap times to fly: Jan. 9 to March 16. Prices drop as much as 40% over holiday fares.

Higher fares: May 29 to June 15. Fares begin to rise for summer.

Highest fares: June 16 to July 15. Peak summer pricing is in effect. Cheaper fall fares take over beginning around Sept. 10.

Israel issues 90 days quit notices to Nigerian and African migrants, says jail term awaits those who remain

Please ensure you read the comment below.

The government of Israeli has issued a notice for thousands of African migrants to leave the country or face imprisonment, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has reported, adding that the country said the migrants would be given up to $3,500 for leaving within the next 90 days.

The report said the order however exempts children, elderly people, and victims of slavery and human trafficking.

The report said the migrants would have the option of going to their home country or third countries, but that if they refused to leave, the Israeli authorities would have them thrown in jail starting from April 2018.

The Israeli government said the return of the migrants would be humane and voluntary even though the UN refugee agency said the plan violated international and Israeli laws.

It was learnt that a spokesperson for Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority revealed that the country currently has 38,000 migrants believed to have entered illegally and out of this number, 1,420 are being held in detention facilities.

The report said many of the migrants, especially from Eritrea and Sudan, say they are in the country to seek asylum after fleeing persecution and conflict, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes that if unchecked, the influx of African migrants could threaten Israel’s Jewish character.

NAIJ.com earlier reported how another set of 257 Nigerians returned from Libya and arrived Lagos on Thursday, December 28, just less than 24 hours after a batch of 157 citizens returned to the county on Wednesday, December 27.

Post admin’s comment: I won’t blame the innocent citizens of the great country called Nigeria, i blame the Government. Nigerians are only looking for a means to survive. If you are opportune to see a Nigerian at your country, it can only mean that they believe you or your country people can be of a great help to them. The different between over there and over here is that the government there takes good care of their citizens, the power is in the citizen’s hand while over here they  treat citizens like trash and also if you are not opportune to be in politics you have no power. Nigerians are not Fraudsters, Scammers, Cheaters and so many other names been given to them via the internet but rather they are humans like you, trying to look for a means of survival and most of all a true Nigerian always works hard in order to make his/her parents proud even at the expense of their lives. You can also be of help to those that have gone astray by teaching them the truth as you are been led by your spirit. So if you are opportune to meet any, i just don’t want you to have that mindset towards us we so much love the world outside.  (I just wanted to make common sense).

Breaking: PDP loses legislator to APC on floor of National Assembly

Just days after its national convention, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost a member to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This resulted in a major protest by members of the PDP in the House leading to their walkout.

The angry members had complained after Speaker Yakubu Dogara allowed the defection to stand.

They argued that due to the recent declaration by the Supreme Court, there was no division in the PDP to warrant such a defection.

A report by Daily Trust has given details of how Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, played host to Governors Aminu Tambuwal and Nyesom Wike of Sokoto and Rivers state respectively in Asaba, barely three days after the national convention of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the report, former governor of Delta state, Chief James Ibori who was not present at the PDP convention was also at the discreet meeting.

Chief Ibori had earlier made a surprise showing at the products exhibition by beneficiaries of a skills acquisition programme of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration.

Unnamed government sources quoted in the report believe that the governors coming together in Asaba cannot be unconnected to discreet political permutations in the build up to 2019.

Earlier in the day, the governor of Rivers state, Barr. Nyesom Wike, had commissioned a road constructed by Okowa administration.Wike, Ibori, Okowa, Tambuwal hold secret meeting in Asaba

Tambuwal has always been described as a ‘presidential material’ by his admirers in Sokoto state and beyond, given the matured way he presided over the House of Representatives as its speaker from 2011 to 2015.

However, the friendship between Governors Wike and Tambuwal, dates back to their days as young lawyers and they have sustained despite being on different political divides. Both governors are in their 50s and are generally seen as politicians with a bright future.

Ibori on his part, is regarded as the indisputable godfather of Delta state. Wike was in his country home in Oghara, Delta state three months ago to pay homage to him.

During the visit, Ibori, urged governors in the south-south part of the country to unite and work together to ensure massive development of the region.

World Cup: FIFA rules against Nigeria, awards Algeria 3-0

Nigeria have forfeited their 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Algeria and handed a 3-0 walk-over defeat for fielding an ineligible player in the match, world football ruling body FIFA says.

The fixture on Nov. 10 had ended 1-1, but FIFA on Tuesday added that the decision did not affect the final standings in African Qualifying Competition Group B.

It said the decision also did not affect Nigeria’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup in Russia, as they had finished six points clear of Zambia.

The player involved in the match played in Constantine was Shehu Abdullahi, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is also receiving a fine of CHF 6,000.

The sanction relates to Abdullahi failing to serve the automatic one-match suspension imposed on him as a result of receiving a caution in two separate matches of the same competition.

FIFA, in a statement, also said East Timor had forfeited seven games in the World Cup qualifiers for fielding a total of nine players who were ineligible because of nationality.

This was based on a decision previously taken by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

FIFA punish Nigeria for using ineligible player in World Cup qualifiers

– FIFA on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 punished the Super Eagles for using ineligible player for the 2018 World Cup qualifier

 – Nigeria used defender Shehu Abdullahi against Algeria on November 10 in Uyo, and the player was not supposed to play the match

– The reason is that Abdullahi had received two yellow cards before the Super Eagles match against Algeria

The hammer of the world football governing body (FIFA) has fell on the Super Eagles of Nigeria for them to have used an ineligible player in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria used former Kano Pillars’ player Shehu Abdullahi against Algeria in their 2018 World Cup qualifier on November 10 which the Super Eagles won 3-1 in Uyo.

But according to FIFA, the Super Eagles were not supposed to use the player against Algeria as he had received two yellow cards in previous games.

The Super Eagles have now forfeited the three points they got from the match as FIFA have given the 3 points to Algeria.

FIFA have also fined the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) 6,000 Swiss Francs which is approximately to N2,175,660.00.

The good news for all Nigerian football lovers is that Nigeria will still participate at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia as the latest deduction did not affect their chance.

But the Super Eagles cannot be said again to have finished their 2018 World Cup qualifiers unbeaten with this latest punishment given to them by FIFA.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how the Super Eagles defeated Algeria 3-1 in their 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Above is a picture of my hair, 100% dry and free of product. I washed my hair and bunned it in 3 sections to dry.
Without moisturizing or oiling.
Below is a picture of supposed hair types, so with these two, you can really determine what you have.
I did this to have a clear view of my different textures and where they are. I get questions a lot about hair typing and how to “identify hair type”, to start with, it might interest you to know that I have multiple, and so do you too…probably.
When your hair is dry and unaltered by-products, you get to see your curls in true form. Only then can you identify if you have 4c, 4b, 4a or 3c hair.
In the African Natural Hair Community. A number of us have these aforementioned hair types. Or a mix of them all.
Every hair type has a curl pattern, just two questions here…Have they attained Maximum hydration? And are they all visible?
4c – these strands are tightly coiled so they love up on each other a whole lot, constantly interlocking, not so visible curl pattern, often wiry, susceptible to dryness and a high shrinkage level.
– The best hair type for a perfect fro.
– Moisturized when proper methods are implemented: LOC method
– look into the Max Hydration Method if a visible curl pattern is desired.
4b – zigzag strands, similar to 4c hair in form but with a visible pattern.
High shrinkage level.
4a – zigzag to S pattern, silkier, shrinkage levels vary.
3c – elongated 4a pattern, wider circumference, silky, (Instagram Hair)
– everything from here is what the world desires because that’s all you see on Instagram and Tumblr, zero shade lol.
Products, on the other hand, can mimic certain textures because of hold and moisture properties. A clear-cut example of this would be 3c/4a hair. To me, 4a hair is just 3c hair with a tighter curl pattern. So! With certain products such as gels, you can elongate the curls and you have 3c hair. Magic.
If you’ve been curious, go ahead, try this method. 1 day without moisture won’t damage your hair, they say curiosity killed the cat. In this case, you’re not a cat, just a curious natural haired lady. When you’re done with this test, do not forget to moisturize and seal!

Buhari not northern sole candidate for 2019 presidency – Shettima Yerima

– Leader of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum faults comments by chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Paul Unongo, over the purported endorsement of President Buhari for 2019 presidency

– AYCF leader, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, maintains that the presidency remains in the northern region till 2023 and it is up to it to present one of its own to fill the slot

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has dismissed statement from chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Paul Unongo, suggesting that the northern region had endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari as sole candidate for the 2019 presidency.

Alhaji Shettima Yerima, leader of the (AYCF), in a statement sent to NAIJ.com on Sunday, December 3, said Paul Unongo was speaking for himself as usual and neither for the Northern Elders Forum, nor for the whole north.

The AYCF leader said Unongo lacks the requisite authority to speak for the north on any matter as his antecedents are full of inconsistency and lack decorum.

“It is quite unthinkable that a person with such little grasp of diplomacy should think himself as a worthy successor to the respectable chairmanship of the NEF vacated by the late Danmasanin Kano.

“We all know that Danmasani was the convener of the NEF and a noble leader that never steered the group in the path of partisanship.

“The leadership of the NEF in the time of the Danmasani has never been so biased and considered every northerners as its own and treated them equally,” Shettima stated.

The AYCF leader however maintained that the presidency remains in the northern region till 2023 and it is up to it to present one of its own to fill the slot.

“Unongo therefore must have said the things he said out of turn,” he said.

Meanwhile, the announcement of a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the former vice president Atiku Abubakar after many years of sojourn in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been received by Nigerians with mixed feelings.

While the PDP and its supporters are delighted at the announcement, a number of Nigerians are trying to understand what the move means for Nigeria and the 2019 presidential elections. On its part, the PDP tweeted in excitement after the announcement.

Ben Murray-Bruce, a PDP senator representing Bayelsa central, already believes that Atiku will be Nigeria’s next leader come 2019.

However, some people mocked Atiku, noting that his actions were nothing new to Nigeria’s political terrain.

Barack Obama warns leaders to think before tweeting

 H bu b

Former US president Barack Obama said Friday that social media powers like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter are leading to “snap judgement to complex issues” and warned leaders to think before tweeting.

Obama was repeatedly asked about his successor, President Donald Trump, at a New Delhi symposium, but stuck to a general warning to all high-profile figures to take care.

“I think it’s important to be mindful of both the power of these tools but also its limits,” Obama said, when asked about the dangers of Twitter, a platform on which Trump has caused repeat controversies.

“What I would say is Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, all these various platforms are extraordinarily powerful tools, and those tools can be used for good and the tools can be used for ill,” he said.

Highlighting how he has 100 million Twitter followers — “more than other people who use it more often” — Obama said: “I think it’s important to be mindful of both the power of these tools, but also its limits.”

Obama’s wife, Michelle, recently took what was seen as a subtle swipe at Trump, asking the audience at an event to spellcheck and not tweet everything that comes into their mind.

“I think she was just giving a general advice, the same advice that you used to hear from your mother generally … don’t say the first thing that pops in your head,” the two-term leader told the conference, which was organised by the Hindustan Times newspaper.

“Your mother and father knew better. Listen to them. Don’t do things like that. Think before you speak, think before you tweet.”

Obama would not be drawn into other questions about the US administration at the appearance where he called “destructive populism” a threat to modern democracy.

“There are political trends in American that I don’t agree with and abide by but I recognise as part of a running thread in American life,” he said.

Obama said he has become “obsessed” with the way news is handled and consumed, by the young.

“We are more connected than ever before but … more and more we are fitting facts to suit our opinions rather than formulating our opinions based on facts,” said Obama.https://m.facebook.com/euriaokoli?refid=7
